2011 Napa Valley Holiday Contest Winner

Napa feels like home. There is something comforting about the place. Some destinations, while nice, feel somewhat contrived. Napa has an old world charm. Instead of hustle and bustle, Napa is calm and serene. There aren’t skyscrapers, taxi horns or crowds. Instead there are vineyards, barrels and hills.
I remember touring a Napa winery 18 years ago and receiving lessons in agriculture, chemistry and botany. Who knew that the wood of the barrels could influence the taste of the wine or that the time of day the grapes are harvested influences sweetness?
I would love to visit Napa again to relax, tour, taste and learn some more. An aerial view via hot balloon would be delightful. Dinner after a day of exploration would be a great way to reflect and wine-‘d’ down. Wine cleanses and stimulates the palate. Scenery and time honored traditions cleanse and stimulate the heart and soul. Napa provides sensory excitement and a home away from home experience all at the same time. I can’t think of two better offerings.
